Portrait Elsewhere
2019-2020, Video Installation
Paintings, Personal Items,
10-channel HD video (color, sound), 02'00'' each
"Portrait Elsewhere" is a video installation that uses smartphone captured video to imply a dual reality, which represents people's overlapping and shifting online and offline life. I invited participants to act as themselves in front of the camera and tried to restore everyone in different ways such as video, painting, sound, text, and personal objects. This work focuses on people's control over personal information while asking an important question during our digital age, is a person's "identity" determined by the individual's own consciousness, or by the viewer's consciousness?
